1-800-Dentist 'Useless' Ad Campaign

The new ad campaign from 1-800-DENTIST offers some compelling proof that everyone around you is useless. It’s a really funny campaign that delivers the brand’s key value proposition loudly and clearly. It just may make you question the value of the people you surround yourself with.

The premise is pretty simple. In this day and age we often rely on recommendations from friends, family and coworkers in order to find a new service provider (like a dentist). How do you get a consumer to look beyond those personal sources and reach out to a dentist referral service? You simply highlight the flaws in the personal recommendations and hold your service up as the savior when these people in your life fail to give you what you need:

These spots are clean, well-written, well-acted (the pace, facial expressions and inflection are exceptional), but for me, the best part is the variable tagline at the end: “Because sometimes your friends are useless”. It’s a sharp, pointed statement that punctuates the ads and really lets them end on a strong note. Your friends, family and co-workers may be useless, but these ads sure aren’t!

Haha! I had not seen these commercials yet but they make a pretty strong point! Many people do rely on the recommendation of their friends and acquaintances – especially when looking for service providers such as dentists, doctors, etc..
